A Set Of 'Thank You' Cards and Sizzix Awards 2017

Hello everyone !

Today I'm sharing two cards I made using the newly released Sizzix die set- Wildflowers by Tim Holtz(Item #661190).This pack contains seven dies of different varieties of wildflowers. I used 4 of them to make my two cards. Also, I want to share a news about Sizzix Awards. But first, sharing the cards I made.

Here's the first one :-

For making this one, I started by sponging the corner of a 4 by 5 inch card panel using distres inks.
Then I sprinkled a few droplets of water over the sponged area using a paint brush. This technque gives a lovely effect. I also splattered some viva decor inka gold mixed with water to give a little shimmery spray.
I then die cut a couple of wildflowers with the help of Sizzix Big Shot Plus Machine(Item #660020) and using a white card paper and adhered these over the sponged corner.
I only adhered the delicate die cuts at their base, leaving the upper halves loose. Stamped the sentiment and added a few pearls. Mounted this card panel over a gray coloured card base.

Second card :-

I started by slightly sponging the white card panel with a distress ink- antique linen, only on one side. Then I splattered some distress ink drops-ground espresso, mixed with water, with the help of a paint brush.
I die cut a couple of wildflowers and waterecoloured them before adhering them to the card panel.
Stamped the sentimnet and added the pearl drops to finish the card.

Off The Edge

Hi friends,

I'm quickly sharing a card I made yesterday afternoon inspired by a few challenges in the blogland.

To make this one-layered CAS card, I started by stamping the butterfly from Mudra- Butterflies stamp set on a scratch piece of paper with the help of Versafine Onyx black ink. I heat embossed this image using Zing clear embossing powder. It added a beautiful gloss to the butterfly outline. See the closer view below.

The image was coloured with the help of Gansai Tambi watercolour paints. Then I scored a few lines on one side of the standard A-2 sized card base, stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set and mounted the fussy cut butterfly image just abouve the stamped sentimeent.
I felt something missing at this stage, so thought of adding a few pearls on one side of the sentiment. And that's how I completed my card. :)

Quilled Lady Silhouette

Hello friends !
Hope you all are having a great time.

In my today's post, I'm sharing a card made with quilling(after a long time, yayy). Last week, on the occasion of international women's day, there were many related images and greetings being circulated on the social media. Little did I know that one such casual forwarded image would inspire me to pick up my quilling needle again after almost a year!  I saw this beautiful and simple silhouette and I thought why not try quilling it !

Here's the card I made with a quilled lady silhouette:-

I first started by sketching the silhouette on my 6 by 6 inches card base using a pencil and then outlining it with a black marker pen. This provided me a guideline to adhere my black quilling strips along the sketched lines. I used 5 mm width of quilling strips to create the black silhouette whereas to make the floral headband, I used 1 mm strips.

There's still a lot of scope for improvements here, I hope I practice more of quilling this year.

I made two one-layered CAS cards for this birthday special blog hop.

Here's the first one:-

I used the newly released stamp set EGGStacy(Concept by Parul Gupta ; Designed by Pon Malar) to make two cards I've shared here. It is such an intelligently composed and designed stamp set, with some varied images and sentiments with wordplay, that can easily be mixed and matched to make so many different cards. Perfect for making CAS cards.

The above card involved some masking and stamping, colouring and fussy cutting. Colouring of the images was done using Faber Castell pencils.

Here's the second one :-

To make this one, the base was lightly sponged using distress inks(abandoned coral, scattered straw, antique linen) such that it covered just the top half of the card. The 3 'egg' images were stamped on a scratch piece of card paper and each of these 'eggs' were given a different stamped 'face'. I decided to give  googly eyes to each of these cute eggs to make them look more interesting ;) These cute egg faces were then fussy cut to be mounted over the card base using 3D foam tape.

If time wasn't a constraint, I would've loved to make a few more cards using this amazing stamp set. But I would definitely be using this one a lot in coming days and will be sharing more ideas.

That's all from my end. Hope you liked my cards.

Your next stop in the hop is the talented Ruchi's blog (Ruchi Crafeteria). :)

Jasleen.

Paru's Card-Making Challenge- Guest Designer Post

Hello friends !

I'm guest designing at Paru's Card Making Challenges blog. I enjoy her challenges and it's an honour to be a invited for a GD post.

The theme for March challenge is to make a CARD or a TAG using just 3 COLOURS other than white, black and kraft.

Here's the card and the tags I made for the challenge :-

This clean and simple onle-layered card was made using floral stamps from Happy Little Stampers- Doodled flowers, which were coloured with the help of Faber Castell watercolour pencils and connector pens. The sentiment ‘you know you’re the best?’  is from MFT-Donuts and Sprinkles, whereas ‘I love you’ is from Mudra- Mom- I love you.

I also stamped on the inside of the card.

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge#168-- One Layer Wonder

Here's the first tag :-

For making this one, I die cut the scalloped circle using Sizzix framelits die- scalloped circles. That cup was made by hand cutting and then scoring with the help of MS scoring tool and bone folder, followed by sponging it with brown ink. The yellow ‘cake’ was made using felt and the ‘cherry’ on the top is a die cut heart. The base was lightly sponged using distress ink-salty ocean and the little cupcake was mounted over this base.

Here’s the second tag:-

This simple tag has the sentiment stamp from Inkadinkado-Kids’ quotes, which was heat embossed in white over a kraft tag. The umbrella and the cloud are stamps from Jane’s Doodles- Rain or shine set.

I hope you feel inspired to play along this month’s ‘colourful’ challenge. For all the details, please visit Paru's Card Making Challenge blog.

Love,
Jasleen.
