One-layered Birthday card

Heyy friends !!

Here's wishing you all a merry and joyous Christmas !! I'm sure most of you must be busy enjoying the holidays with your near and dear ones :)

I'm quickly sharing a card I made yesterday. It's a one-layered , very clean and simple card I made for my grandmother who will be celebrating her birthday on the 31st of this month. :)  I hope she likes it.

So, I started off by stamping three floral images on the folded card base, 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 in size. Stamped the same images thrice on a piece of masking tape, fussy cut these and used them for masking the stamped images on the card base. After masking, sponged some distress inks around them to create a sweet little garden scenery. Then, removed the masks off the flowers and water coloured them using distress inks. The stem and the tiny leaves were hand drawn.
Finally, stamped the birthday sentiment and added a white pearl each in the centre of the flowers to add some interest to this CAS one-layered card.

That's it. Quick. Clean. Simple. Pretty. Don't you think? :)

Quilled Teddy And a Card

Hello Friends !!

How are ya'll doing?  Well, I'm on a card making spree these days but just couldn't make time to blog about them. Planning to share them all this week.

I tried my hands at making this 3D quilled teddy last month. Here it is ;--

Then I felt that this cuddly little thing needed a home so that it doesn't get lost. So, it got it's home on a newborn baby girl card. :) Here's how it looks now-

 I used 5 mm pink quilling strips to make it, and it took me about 4-5 hours divided over 3 days to complete it. Maximum time went into cutting the fringe as fine as possible. Rolling and assembling was comparatively simpler.

You're The Coolest

Hello, Again ! :D

I don't remember the last time I posted one post after the another this quick, last night I shared this card and here I am back with another card today, feeling good to be able to get my blogging back on track after long.. :P
 And I made this inspired by the current challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch#151

Here's the card:-

 

 

I tried to create the whole scene to go with the 'Cool' sentiment. The stamps are from My Favorite Things- Penguins in Paradise. Love the cute images in this set :)

 

The images were watercoloured using faber castell pencils( a long way to go when it comes to colouring my images ) , fussy cut them and mouted them over the sponged scene.

Floral CAS card

Hello, friends !

Hope you all are doing well.

Sharing a card that I made last month but didn't share it on my blog yet.

 

To make this one,

• I stamped the floral images from the Wplus 9 stamp set-- pretty little peonies, on a 5 by 5 inches card panel.
• Stamped the same images on another piece of scratch card stock, fussy cut them and mounted them over the previously stamped images, using some 3d foam adhesive. This gives a nice dimntion to the focal image.
• Then stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant stamp set- true friends.
• Cut out small pieces of silver glitter washi and attached these underneath the card panel to add an interesting add-on to the whole design.
• Finally,added the coloured pearls and mounted the panel on a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 sized card base.

3D Quilled Snowman

Hi Friends !

After a long break for a month full of travelling and family get-togethers, I'm relieved to be back doing what I love the most. Mojo does hit a low after such a long break but I realised that if I want to get my crafting back on track, I should just start. And so I did .

As a part of my DT post for Indian Quilling Challenge#22, where the theme for the months of november and december is 'Anything goes', here's what I've come up with --

Can you recognize him ? Well, he's the very popular and cute character,Olaf-the snowman, from the English animated movie 'Frozen' . ;)

So, I used 5 mm width of white colored quilling strips to make the body using the 3-dimensional quilling technique. He stands approximately 3 inches tall.

Isn't he cute? And so apt for the festive month of December !

Count your Rainbows...

Hope you all are doing well. Sharing a one-layered card I made yesterday. I recently bought this  stamp set from Inkadinkado -Kid's quotes and have been dying to get them inked ever since. I loved those cute little sayings by young kids and had this card in my mind since quite a few days. Here's the card:--

The Process:-

• Sponged four different colours of distress and memento inks over the card base
• Blended the colours a bit , using a wet paintbrush.
• Added some water splatters and dried those splatters immediately with a tissue paper.
• After letting it dry completely, stamped the sentiment and added the silver glittery foam hearts.

Gold Embossing

A quick post today. Sharing a card I made for the following challenges:-

1. WCMD 2015- Background building with Shay

Here's the card:--

The Process :--
1. Sponged the edges of a card panel with Memento dew drop ink-desert sand .
2. Stamped the leaves from Hero Arts- Leaves stamp set with versamark ink and heat embossed it with Enchanted gold embossing powder by Rangers.
3. Stamped a few more leaves and embossed it with white embossing powder.
4. Splattered some black acrylic paint over the embossed panel to add some interest.
5. Stuck a chevron-stamped strip and a gold washi tape over a card base and mounted the embossed panel over it, in such a way, that the chevron strip and the washi tape peek through.
6. Cut out a tag from a white card stock to write my 'Thanks' on , added the twine and the pearls to it and mounted it over the card front using foam tape.

Sharing a fun card today inspired by this week's CASology challenge where the cue word is 'Silly'.  The moment I saw this cue word, I knew I wanted to play along. I usually make dreamy, scenic cards but with this challenge, I knew this was a chance to get creative and try my hands at making a cute, fun, 'silly' card. :)

Here's what I came up with :-

Well, this 'madly in love macho man' does appear kind of cute and silly and makes me giggle. :)
This was inspired by the very popular trend of using emoticons. They are everywhere on the social media and applications, isn't it ? So, keeping up with the trends and adding my own 'sillly' add-ons, this one-layered card came into being.

The Process:-
1. Drew a circle on the card base using a yellow colour pencil with a help of a circular stencil.

2. Keeping that stencil still in place, sponged the memento and distress inks in different shades of yellow, so that it somewhat looks like an emoticon.

3. Stamped the spectacles and the moustache from this hot off the press stamp set shown below, using Archival black ink.

4. Stamped the tiny hearts from the Waffle Flower bowtiful stamp set, using memento rose bud ink.

5. To give those spectacles a glimmer, applied versamark ink over the 'glass' area directly with my ink pad and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. You can also use glossy accents for this step if you don't have the embossing tools and powder, the only downside of glossy accents being that they take a long time to dry, whereas clear embossing is quick and effective too.

5. Finally, stamped the main sentiment from the same 'hot off the press' stamp set and also added 'Oh Em Gee' on the inside of the card at the bottom, so that it peeks through and goes with an overall trendy feel of the card.

I think it would make a great 'Dad' card.  Let me know how you like this card. Does it make you giggle too ? :)

Embossed and Sparkly

Sharing a CAS card after quite a long time. Actually it seems like ages, if you ask me !!  About a year ago, I was bubbling with ideas and made at least one card everyday and shared on my blog too!  And here I am now, completely down on mojo, struggling to find time and ideas for making even a single card a week :( Hopefully, I get my mojo back soon.  Does this happen to you as well ? How do you bounce back?

I think the best way to start again is by participating in the challenges. So, I made a card today inspired by Cas-ual Fridays Challenge#144-Tic Tac Toe and Waffle Flower Challenge for October, where the theme is - Embossing and also Lulupu challenge- Embossing.

So, here's my card:-

  

For the Cas-ual friday's tic tac toe box, I chose to go along with the bottom row--Embossing, distressing and sparkling. 

And i got inspired a little bit from both the sketch and and picture from Waffle flower crafts 

To make this one, I stamped the image from the Penny Black Dazzlers stamp set, using versamark ink and heat embossed it using white embossing powder. It took me many tries to get this one right. After heat embossing, sponged it with two diffferent colours of distress inks and added a few rhinestones for that sparkle. Finally, mounted the white card panel over a kraft coloured card base , tied a silver string and added the white embossed sentiment from Waffle Flowers Bowtiful stamp set.

Mixed Media Art---Door Hanger

Hi friends,

Sharing an upcycled project today, So, I had this piece of corrugated cardboard ( from a cheese box) lying in my stash since quite a while and yesterday, I decided to put it to some good use. So, I decided to make a pretty door hanger out of it.  This is what I made :--

So, it started with just an unplanned experimental activity on a boring afternoon , just playing around with some gesso, fireworks sprays and texture paste over this rectangular piece of corrugated cardboard and it turned out to be something I really liked after the background was made. Then I was left wondering how and what embellishments to add to this. Now this is where I usually falter and being a CAS lover, find this step a little brain-numbing :P
 After figuring out what mulberry flowers would look good against that background and their best possible arrangement, I could slowly sense the project coming together all by itself !! I think that's the beauty of art, you may not necessarily begin with a chalked-out plan in your mind, but as you get involved in the making process, ideas keep coming easily and effortlessly. :)

Simple Quilled Ganesha

As you all must be aware of, tomorrow is Ganesh Chaturthi, a grand  Hindu festival celebrated with pomp and gaity in many states of India. Here's wishing everyone a very happy and prosperous Ganesh Chathurthi.

 It is celebrated in the honour of Lord Ganesha, also known as The Elephant God (for having His head resemble that of an elephant). The festival usually lasts for about 10 days, and involves installing clay images of  Ganesha in public pandals (temporary shrines) and even in homes, and these idols are worshipped during those days. On the 10th day, these idols are then immersed in a body of water, such as a lake, which marks the end of the festival for that year.

This month's challenge at the Indian Quilling challenge blog is to create something white, quilled of course, against a white backdrop. So, inspired by the festive fervour around, I came up with an idea of a simple quilled Ganesha.

For creating this, I wanted my reference image to be very clean and simple . After searching for and finalizing one from the Google, I started by directly shaping 5 mm quilling strips using thumb and index finger and sticking onto the selected white card stock, maintaining the desired outline . I decided against working on the printed or sketched outline here because I didn't want the lines to be visible at all. The lines peeking out from under the quilled outline doesn't look very neat, especially when you are creating a white-on-white project. So, I just went ahead without any pre-made reference outline , but kept the image in front of me all the time for reference. And I'm happy the way it has turned out. :)

White colour symbolises purity, innocence, completeness, faith and spirituality; a colour which , I believe, quite perfectly symbolises the magnificience of the deity.

I got it framed and I think it would make a nice gift for a friend or relative .

And how can be Ganpani ccelebration complete without some Modaks ! :D. Yes, I tried   my hands at making these yummy sweets .

Random Cards

Hello dear friends !!

Hope you all are doing well. As for me, I'm doing great and have been getting a few orders through my page on Facebook, although I take very limited orders as of now, but still find it difficult to blog on a regular basis as I used to earlier. Yes, I do miss blogging a lot. :(

Today I'm sharing a few cards that I made a while back but couldn't blog about then.

The first two cards were made to order for a friend who wanted to send them to her parents on their respective birthdays.

 For her father's card, she wanted me to make a CAS card showing a father-daughter bond in some way. So, I decided to show this in the form of silhouettes against a pretty background. I found a father-daughter silhouette on the internet, hand drew them on a piece of black cardstock and fussy cut them. (These two steps were the most time consuming part in the process of making this card, it took me quite a number of tries for getting the silhouettes right.) Then, sponged the scene on a white card stock panel, using distress inks and stuck the silhouettes over it using a foam adhesive tape.

To add some interest to the scenery, sponged the corners of the card base with memento inks, heat embossed a few leaves using white EP, and stamped a few of those leaves using the same toned memento ink.

And here's the second card:-

For her mother's card, she wanted me to show a garden with a big flower and a smaller one as the focal point. So I started creating the background by sponging different coloured inks through the kaisercraft brick stencil, over a white card panel. Then, stamped the silhouette meadow images from the Inkadinkado meadows stamp set, and also white embossed a couple of images (couldn't be seen clearly in the pictures).

Then I cut out a rectangular portion of this panel, matted it using same-sized card stock and then adhered it back over the card base, aligning it over the stamped panel, so that it looks like an inlaid die cut.
 Those flowers were handmade using pink and yellow coloured felt.
