Friends, please advise

Hello dear friends,
Since I'm quite new to the crafting and blogging world, I really haven't tried my hand at stamping and embossing yet. So I want to invest in some good basic must-have stamps, inks and other products required for a good crafting experience. Just  wanted to know which stamps and inks should I buy first(brands you trust the most) and the names of the stores where i can get them at comparatively economical rates. I know there are so many online stores, and I'm going through each one I can find, but that has just doubled my confusion  :(  There are so many things I like and wish I could buy them all, but as we all know, crafting items are expensive and I prefer doing it in an affordable way. Hope you all understand. Please drop in your suggestions. If you wish to keep the discussions personal, just drop in your email id and I would get in touch personally.Your help would be really appreciated. Thanks for your valuable time and hope you have a great day!! :)

  3. Hi Jasleen! If I can recommend anything it's to buy classic ink colors (I love Hero Arts Mid-tone inks) first...the rainbow colors plus brown and grey. For black, I would invest in two both by Tsukineko...Tuxedo Black Memento ink and Onyx Black VersaFine ink...if you ever get into coloring with Copics or Spectrum Noir, this is a must-have. The VersaFine ink is a pigment ink which takes a bit longer to dry...meaning it's perfect for heat or wet embossing! This means you can save money by only buying embossing powders in classic colors and clear. Classic embossing powder colors for me are white, gold and silver...they're the only ones I have and I don't want for any other colors :) I wasted a lot of money buying things like glitters in every color, but I prefer the Stickles glitter glue in Star Dust and despite my huge glitter collection I always reach for my Star Dust Stickles instead. I also bought Distress Stickles in Picket Fence (the glitter in it is white, not iridescent) and Antique Linen (the glitter is a soft gold - it looks almost tan when dried). For cardstock, if you're in the US, I would invest in Papertrey Ink's CS...basics and colors. The weight is fabulous and it stamps/embosses like a dream. For better advice than I can give, I'd recommend visiting Jennifer McGuire's blog at jennifermcguireink.com. She has many posts/videos about her favorite/must-have supplies and tools. She's been in the industry a long time and is honest about what things will last versus trendy things that could fade and become useless. I'm sorry to ramble on so much, but I hope some of this helps!!! Hugs!

  4. Thanks so much Barb for your wonderful suggestions.. This is just what I needed, frank and honest advice. :) It really gets confusing for newbies like me. I recently ordered versamark black ink for stamping. Well, I'm in India so I don't know if they have peppertrey here, have to check out. Thanks for sharing Jennifer's blog link. Will check it out. :) This would be helpful. thanks again . hugs.
