Guest Designing at CASology

 Hello friends!!

I hope this post finds you well.  I am so excited to share that I am joining along in this fortnight’s CASology challenge as a guest designer!  In the previous challenge, I was selected as the winner with this card here.  As a result, I was invited to be a guest designer for CASology in this week’s challenge.

This week's cue card (Week 376) is DRY. The first thing that came to my mind was to design my card showing some dry leaves as the focal point. After spending some time rootling around my stamps and dies searching for the "right" kind of leaf elements for using on my CAS card, I finally decided to use a couple of leaf dies bunched together as the focal element of my card.

I started with a folded square card base measuring 6 by 6 inches. I first die-cut the leafy vine from Sizzix Thinlits Elegant Leaf die set (#662603) and decided against adding any colour to it. For the second leaf, I die-cut using Brustro watercolour paper from Sizzix Thinlits Meadow Leaves die set (#661746). I watercoloured it using various warm shades of distress ink such that it resembled a dry, autumnal leaf.

I bunched these die cuts together and adhered the bunch over the card base splattered with some black watercolour (using a paint brush) to add interest. I then stamped the sentiment from MFT-Harvest Mouse stamp set and finished off my card using a khaki cord tied up into a small knot and a few enamel dots.

I hope this card inspires you to play along this fortnight's challenge at CASology blog. Please visit the challenge blog for some more inspiration from the design team.

Thank you for stopping by. Please visit again.

Card by my Daughter

My card-making hobby has rubbed off on my elder daughter- Jasnoor and I love the sparkle in her eyes when she excitedly asks me, "Mama, come let's make a card today."

While I was making a card for AAA card challenge the other day, she asked me if 8-year-olds were allowed to play along too. I am not sure if kids are allowed, but didn't want to discourage her from making a card. So here's what she made. :)

She stamped the images from MFT- Harvest Mouse stamp set and coloured these using Zig brush pens.

I hope you will spare some time to leave an encouraging comment for Jasnoor. She would  love to read about what you have to say about her card. :)

Dreaming about Vacation

Well, we all are, aren't we? ;)

Anyhow, a real vacation is not happening for me anytime sooner, so I thought why not try and mimic that experience and feeling of going on a holiday. Yeah, card making does that trick for me ;)

I made this holiday-themed card to paly along a couple of my favorite challenges using dies from Sizzix.

I started by masking the upper third area of my card base and sponging distress inks to create a night sky. The white splatters were added using white acrylic paint and a brush. For making that curvy landscape panel edge, I used Sizzix Thinlits Die- Build a Landscape (#662839). Those cute little tress are from the same die set. I like the simplicity of those trees. Perfect for CAS cards!

The car is from Sizzix Thinlits die set-- Summertime (#662547). The die cuts were sponged using distress inks too.

The sentiment from MFT was aligned on the stamping tool such that it aligns along the edge. After stamping the sentiment, I still felt that something was missing. Therefore, I stamped that curvy line along with the tiny heart form Neat and Tangled stamp set (Thank you, Pooja for gifting this to me) to add interest.

I hope you like the card.

Harvest of Blessings

 Hello everyone,

I hope you all are in the pink of health and spirits.

I haven't been very active lately when it comes to card making and blogging, but when I came to know about the Card Design Superstar 2020 Challenge hosted by My Favorite Things, I had to participate for the sheer spirit of positive energy and enthusiasm I could sense in the blogland, with so many of my friends sharing their gorgeous makes for this challenge.

I decided to make a one-layered card with no-line watercolouring, which I have been practising lately, using the Harvest Mouse stamp set from My Favorite Things.

For me, clean and simple design means being able to express my sentiment with minimal layers, a main focal element  and glorious white space. I used St. Petersburg Whitenights watercolours for colouring the image. The sentiment was stamped using Versafine Onyx black ink. I love how the sentiment naturally fits into the focal image. I hope you like my card.

Keeping it Simple with YNS

 Hello everyone,

Quickly sharing a birthday card I made using the cute image from Your Next Stamp- Love and Smiles set.

When I struggle with getting good ideas for making a card but I still want to make one ;), I turn to Jennifer McGuire's blog. We all know what a powerhouse of creative ideas she is! And this one was inspired by one of her card designs HERE

I used my new watercolour set-- St. Petersberg Whitenights-- for colouring that image. The sentiment was stamped multiple times using distress ink (shabby shutters) and the one in black was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Guest Designing for AAA Card Challenge #164 | TV Series-inspired card

Hello friends!

How are you all doing?

I'm so happy to be guest designing for the AAA Card Challenge #164, where the challenge is to use One Image with an optional twist of using inspiration from TV. I love their challenge themes and try to play along as and when time permits.

Here's what I made:

This cute dog is from Jane's Doodles stamp set--Rain or Shine. I tried coloring this dog in such a way that it resembles the one from the 1990's American TV series, called "Wishbone," which also featured a cute dog. I thoroughly enjoying making this card as it brought back fond memories of growing up in the 90's. ;)

Hope you like my interpretation of the challenge theme and find time to play along. Please hop over to the AAA Challenge blog for more inspiration from the talented design team.

I hope you are keeping safe in the midst of the ongoing pandemic. Are you finding ample time to craft these days? As for me, I have never been busier at the home front! But I have no complaints for I have everything I need during this challenging time. I understand that the pandemic brings unique challenges for different people and I'm praying for those whom this crisis has hit really hard.

Stay safe, seek help if needed and craft your worries away!
Love,

All within an Inchie

Hello dear friends!

The card I'm going to share today was made for the February Workout Weekend Challenge hosted by Jane Taylor. This interesting challenge required us to create our card only using a 1 by 1 inch square on our cards. Well, I had to participate; it screamed CAS! ;)

For making this one, I used the newly released die from the die/stamp set from Sizzix- Celebration phrases (#663842)
The inchie was first sponged using distress inks. the sentiment is also from the same die/stamp set from Sizzix.

Fun thing is that I could also link it up to the ongoing challenge at AAA Cards:CAS Game#160-- Maxi White Space. I have skipped the optional part this time.

Friendly reminder: Do you know that we have a Women's day blog/insta hop going on with tons of prizes to be won from your favorite sponsors? If you haven't checked it out yet, no worries. You still have time until 22nd March.

International Women's Day Bloghop 2020 | You are Enough

Hello friends,

Wishing you all a very happy Women's Day. I welcome you to our 2nd International Women's day Blog hop.

First things first!  This year, our event is bigger and better with 28 craft companies generously sponsoring this hop. Check out this post to see all the sponsors and the prizes to be won--->https://women-beyoutifullyyou.blogspot.com/2020/03/womens-day-hop-sponsors.html

May we always remind ourselves that we have enough, we do enough, and we are enough. The card I have made for today's hop is based on this simple awareness.

For making this card, the floral stamp from Concord & 9th- You are enough, was stamped using a very lightly shaded distress ink (spun sugar) and was watercoloured using distress inks (Festive berries, barn door, scattered straw, etc.) The peach-coloured textured paper is from Sizzix (#663007). For no-line watercolouring, I followed Pooja's colouring technique she shared on her recent video here. I love her gorgeous watercolouring.

Further, we are delighted to have few of our sponsors as the Guest Designers for the Blog Hop. Not only have they generously sponsored our event, they have also created a project for inspiring everyone of us. Thank you so much, our dear sponsors.

Excited to check out what they have made?? I know you all are :)
