One for the Holiday Season

Hello, hello my dear blogger friends!

How have y'all been?

I've been MIA from the blogland since several months; I'm still learning how to find that (elusive) balance between managing my new job (that I joined in March this year), home and children. Experienced ladies, I could use some time-management tips from you ;)

I managed to make a couple of cards last weekend! Yayy for that! ;)

I'm sharing one of those cards in my post today.

The cutie image is from Your Next stamp-Sprinkles-Coffee and Tea and the sentiment is from My Favorite Stamps-Hug in a mug.
I started by slightly sponging the center of a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches card front with distress ink (ground espresso). Next, I stamped a few snowflakes from the aforementioned MFT stamp set, using Memento ink (summer sky) for stamping. The main image was colored using Zig brush pens and it was adhered to the sponged area using double-sided foam tape. Finally, I stamped the sentiment and finished off my card with some color-coordinated sequins.

Life's a Joyride

Do you like cards which have little sceneries in them ? Or a story to tell? I really enjoy creating such sweet scenery cards which have a lot to say with less.

I made one such card for my better half [Yes,Valentine's day special ;)] using some cutest little dies from Sizzix Lifestyle. Here it is:-

The die set I used here is Sizzix thinlits die set- Spring Time, which contains 18 varied dies including some tine florals, rabbits, butterflies, bicycle, leaves, everything Spring !! Perfect for making CAS cards with sceneries.

Those tiny flowers are die cut using foam sheets in different colours and added a touch of pearls(my favorite embellishment) to these. Sentiment, as you might have guessed, is handwritten.

Guest Designing at CAS(E) This Sketch #256

Hi there!

I'm happy to share that I'm guest designing for this week's challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch. I had won one of their challenges few months ago and I was excited when Chrissy asked me if I would like to guest design for one of their challenges. I have always loved their sketches and I often use them to make my CAS cards. This week they have challenged everyone with a very interesting sketch. Check out below :-

And here's my interpretation of the sketch :-

Pretty clean, simple and quick one to make. Those hearts are from Sizzix Bigz die- Heartfelt, which are watercoloured using Gansai Tambi paints. The sentiment on the white heart is from My Favorite Things- Harvest mouse stamp set. I wanted to define the hearts more clearly so I doodled along their edges uising my micron pen. That's pretty much about the making process. Nothing too elaborate.

Hope you feel inspired to participate in this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge # 256. :)

All the images used on this card are from My Favorite Things stamp set- Harvest Mouse. Colouring is done using Zig cleasn color real brush pens. I LOVE how vibrant they are.

To make the interactive element, I followed a beautiful video tutorial here --

I have also added some glossy accents over the apples on the front of the card. Check out the picture below to have a closer look-

I Pick You

Hey friends!

How are you all doing? I'm sharing a cute and simple card today using My Favourite Things Stamp Set- Harvest Mouse.

To start with, I stamped the mouse and the leaves from the MFT set on Iris sg card stock. After colouring the images with Zig Clean color brush pens, I fussy cut the images and moved on to making the card base. Over a piece of standard A2 sized folded card base, I stamped a few pumpkin images from the same stamp set with the help of masking. Then I decided to make a little greenish area for the mouse to walk on and for my little scene to look complete. When I was happy with the arrangement, I mounted the mouse image using double sided foam tape and adhered the leaves here and there using white glue. Finally stamped the sentiment to go with the mood of the card scene.
All the colouring is done using Zigs. and I added colours keeping Fall colours in mind. That's why you see some reds, yellows and browns too.

So what do you think?  Would you pick him? :)

Friendship Card Using Peacock Die | Sizzix

One of the dies that I had received in my second DT kit from Sizzix was this thinlits die set - Peacock designed by Pete Hughes. I have been procastinating big time putting this die to use. I was kind of intimidated to use this die all this time, don't know why, maybe because it is so beautiful that I had some doubts if I would be able to do justice to it. :)  But last week, I decided to give it a go and see how my card turns out with it.

Here's how it looks:-

I wanted to keep the card very clean and simple, especially so with this die cut, because it looks so beautiful in itself. Cluttering the background would take away the spotlight from the peacock !
This die set contains a total of 7 pieces of die- One main body, three sizes of wings, two varieties of tiny feathers and one eye die. We need to assemble the die cut pieces together to form a peacock.
I decided to die cut the pieces using Canson Montval water colour paper and then add colours of my choice using Zig brush pens to get a lovely watercolor look. If you are in a hurry, you can even die cut these from the coloured card stock.

The left-hand side corner of the card base was inked using distress ink- spun sugar and the sentiment( from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps-Big Treble) was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I LOVE that sentiment !!
I wanted the sentiment to look more prominent, so I quickly poured some Zing Clear Embossing Powder over it and heat embossed it. This is a great way to make your sentiment look more prominent.

The assembled die cut peacock was then adhered over the card base and added some musical notes by doodling them next to the peacock.

That's all. I love the way it has turned out.

SuperGirl Cards | Guest Post for CrafTangles

Hi friends !
Hope you all are doing well.

I'm guest designing today at CrafTangles official blog (blog.hndmd.in) and I made three cards featuring their
SuperGirl stamp and co-ordinated die set.

I’m very impressed with their amazing and detailed designs. And the co-ordinated dies fit perfectly well with their respective images and give a clean cut with a perfect edge. It’s for the first time an Indian craft manufacturing company has come up with a stamp and co-ordinated die set. They also have a Super Boy stamp set and die as well as patterned papers in the same theme too.

Here’s my first card:-

The image was stamped using versafine onyx black ink on Iris Sg card stock and coloured using Faber Castell watercolour pencils. It was then die cut using the co-ordinating die. I wanted to keep this card very CAS and I’m happy with the way those colours look against the light grey background. Sometimes, substituting a white card stock with some other neutral colours adds an interesting appeal to the whole look and at the same time, keeps the card clean and simple.

Second one:-

I started by drawing a cloud on a scratch piece of paper and fussy cut it to use it as a mask for sponging distress ink. That skyline die is from Sizzix and I stenciled some distress ink over it to add some interesting texture. This super girl image is the second one from the same stamp set and it was also coloured using Faber Castell watercolour pencils. It was die cut using the coordinating die and then popped up on the prepared scene using double sided foam tape.

Third One:-

This one’s my first attempt at making a pop-up card.  I have kept it quite simple. I stamped the ‘bang’ on the outside of the card in versamark watermark ink and silver embossed it. I die a cut a few stars from a Sizzix framelits Star die set using golden and silver glitter paper and mounted these using 3D foam tape. Added a few star-shaped sequins here and there. Have a look at the picture below to see how it looks on the inside :-

I've also shared a small video clip to help you see better how the pop-up card looks like on opening up:-

I had a great time making these cards. Hope you liked these!

Floral Card- Altenew Challenge

Hi friends !

How's your weekend going? As for me, I managed to make a card to play along a challenge after ages, so yes, my weekend is going great ;)

June 2017 Inspiration Challenge – White On White Focal Point
I loved  June month's Altenew Inspiration Challenge picture and decided to make a card inspired the gorgeous floral bouquet of deep pink and light yellow coloured flowers against the light gray backdrop.

The design of this card was inspired by Ardyth's card I saw here. I'm a huge admirer of Ardyth's work and there are so many of her cards I wish to CASE.

The flowers are from Altenew Hennah Elements stamps set ( I can never get bored of this stamp set) coloured using my newly bought Zig brush pens. Now I know why everybody is crazy about Zig pens.;) They are so amazing to work with.
The sentiment is from Mudra Craft Stamps- Butterfly wishes.

I'll be sending this card to a friend and decided to go with yellow envelope. Do you think this envelope goes well with the card or should I go with the one that looks less brighter?

Thanks for visiting my blog today.
Hugs !

Geometric Shaped Dies- Card #1

Hey friends!!!

How're you all ?

In my last kit from Sizzix, I got a few tiny geometric shaped framelits dies such as circle, hexagon, triangle, scalloped circle and star dies. So, I have challenged myself to come up with some card ideas using only these geometric dies in the next few days ! I hope I manage to complete my own challenge. Great way to get my lost mojo back on track, don't you think ?

So here's the first card of the series :-

Father's day is just round the corner so I thought it would a nice idea to have few such cards in my stash. ;)

So, for this CAS card, I made use of Sizzix Framelits little bunting and Sizzix Framelits small  Scallop Circle die sets. That sentiment is hand-written, as you might have already guessed ;)

And if you are looking for some interesting patterned papers to help with your Father's day makes, there are some free paper downloads available at sizzix.co.uk

Here' the link where you can download these free patterned papers -

Mother's Day Cards | Sizzix Post

We are observing Mother’s Day in India on the 14th of this month and I came up with a couple of last minute mother’s day card ideas featuring the newly released dies from Sizzix—Butterfly Meadow by Debi Potter and the Sentiment Words Thin by Tim Holtz.

First One:-

Although this one was quick to put together after planning the design, it took a lot of time and brain-storming to finalize the card layout. Yeah, guess that happens when you’re low on creative ideas. I usually find it difficult to incorporate patterned papers on my cards. But I have a huge stock of pretty patterned papers kept in the drawers unused and it hurts me to see them getting dusty. So I challenged myself to try using PPs onto my card.  That beautiful die cut is a single piece with the butterfly, flowers and the leaves. I sponged the die cut using different colours of distress inks with the help of sponge daubers.

And now over to the second one:-

For this card, I wanted to try out a stenciling technique with my distress inks. I started by sponging three colours(abandoned coral, scattered straw, evergreen bough) of distress inks on a 4 by 5 ¼ inches sized Iris Sg card panel.

Then I chose my stencil I wished to use, sprayed some water over the stencil and placed it over the sponged card panel. I saw this technique in one of the recent card-making videos by Jennifer McGuire.
That gave me a beautiful background. The reason why this technique works so beautifully with distress inks (or even distress oxides) is the unique tendency of these inks to react with water.
And because I already had a colourful and striking background, I decided to keep the butterfly meadow die cut uncoloured.

How do you like these cards? Would love to know. :)
